weekend recap

It’s funny how things can just turn around so quickly. I knew a week/weekend of bootcamp and friends would make a world of difference!

I flew out of work Friday afternoon to pick r.d. up from airport.  After getting her we went to my house to drop off her stuff and sit in the back yard sunning with a few beers. It was a nice 70 degree-ish day. Later, we met up with AFUNT and Kelly for dinner at Einstein’s and it was still warm enough to sit outside to eat. We each had a wonderful dinner and afterwards r.d., Kelly and I rolled on over to Paris for some more cocktails.

Saturday Afunt ran a race while r.d. Kelly and I had coffee, did brunch and went to the farmer’s market to pick up stuff for the cookout/party that night. There was more sitting in the backyard sunning and talking. I put on shorts for the first time and no one got blinded from my white legs. (If they did they didn’t say anything) At 5:00 I ran inside to change clothes for the evening and throw the slaw together.

Who do you think the first one here will be?”

I think Afunt or Angella”

(It was Susan, btw)

People trickled in. Wine was opened, beer iced and the grill fired up successfully without setting the eves on fire and singing my eyebrows (yes, I need to wax them – part of the yard conversation from earlier). Susan was grill master until all the wine hit and was off and running around. At 9:30 we all decided (it seemed simultaneously) that it was time to go to the bar. People running out to cars – designated drivers had already been chosen to drive the inebriated ones. It was almost like a race to get there. Once there we were dancing, talking – even some push ups were performed. (not by me, though) And, I wish I could tell this one story but I cannot. (But, I think maybe those yard people know what I’m talking about.) I CAN tell you what didn’t happen, though. No woman came over and took my beer out of my hand and sat on my lap and kissed me.

Nope.

Nor kissed me when I asked her to after she [blatantly] turned off her car and sat in my driveway while r.d. and Kelly scurried into the house snickering.

No – none of that happened.

The next day we picked up Afunt and went to the baseball game. Once there all the women were wearing this:

(although, they were all MUCH younger than this woman!)

And, while I can’t really speak for all of us I can definitely say that I was fine with it. Especially, the 19 year old in front of us turning around and saying, “Let’s all do the WAAAAAAVE!” And, jumping up so fast that I thought some things were going to pop right OUT of her babydoll top! (WOW! Baseball can be exciting! Ok then! GO TEAM!! Yeah! Let’s do the wave!) Unfortunately, these very rude Clampett people moved in and babydoll decided to go sit in the sun and left us. Ahhh, darn! [Stupid Clampett's!] So, we decided to follow suit and went up top and drank cold beer and watched the Braves sweep the Dodgers.

After the game (sadly) it was time for r.d. to fly out and we drove to the airport and said goodbye. Then, Afunt, Kelly and I went out to Sala for dinner which was excellent but sadly -probably the last time I can go there as I wrote my # on the receipt and if that cute server never calls me I will not be able to show my face there [ever] again. Well, maybe in 6 months, we’ll see. (and we really needed r.d. there to share in the drinking of margarita’s and for additional moral support)

All in all a great weekend! Thanks, girls!!
